Simone Ashley has onboarded the ’90s blow dry–defined by its volume, gloss, and body–that was a hit with the supers of the era. Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington were all regularly snapped looking fabulous with the sort of luxuriant manes mere mortals dream of. As with all good things, the trend has had a renaissance on TikTok, with users particularly enamoured by Crawford’s blow-dry game. Views on the term “Cindy Crawford hair” are currently at a breezy 269.3 million.

How to make an old-school trend like this one modern? Simone Ashley—and her hairstylist Leigh Keates–have nailed it. In a recent post on Instagram, Ashley’s take on the OG blow dry was understated but cool, with an expensive shine (essential, if you’re channelling Cindy). With a deep side parting, her hair was styled into bouncy but undone waves.
As illustrated by the way it enhances Ashley’s long but face-framing layers, the ’90s blow-dry is a great way to add detail to an otherwise simple cut. It’s best worn with a little added texture and an effortless finish. While in the ’90s, more-is-more glam was the vibe, nowadays we like to look like we’ve made no effort – and Ashley’s take on the look encapsulates this feeling perfectly.
Paired with a latte make-up look – contoured cheeks, bronze eyes, and a nude lip – Simone nailed a current beauty trend, too. Bravo.
