BHUBANESWAR: Mumbai-born Kamiya Jani, a journalist-turned YouTuber, finds herself in the centre of a growing row between Odisha’s BJD and the opposition parties over her recent video conversation with BJD functionary VK Pandian on the Jagannath heritage corridor project.
Saturday marked protests by Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Suraksha Abhiyan, a socio-cultural outfit, and BJP & Congress intensifying their criticism of the BJD dispensation.BJD responded by saying it was an attempt to defame Odisha using fake news.

BJP demands arrest of YouTuber Kamiya Jani for eating ‘mahaprasadam’ after allegedly consuming beef

In her channel ‘Curly Tales’, 35-year-old Kamiya focuses on food, travel, experiences, and lifestyle content.
Jani has interviewed many top politicians. In January 2023, she had a conversation with Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
BJD spokesman Manas Mangaraj on Saturday questioned in a post on X, if it’s fine for Jani to promote Ram temple, what is wrong in her promoting Jagannath heritage corridor project. But Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Giriraj Singh separately criticized the state government for hurting people’s sentiments by allowing Jani, who had once allegedly promoted beef consumption, inside the 12th century shrine.

Jani has clarified that she never ate beef. “As an Indian, my mission is to take Indian culture and heritage to the world. I’ve been visiting all Jyotirlingas and char dhams of India… I don’t & have never eaten beef. Jai Jagannath,” Jani wrote on Instagram.
