BHOPAL: A 24-year-old yoga teacher from Gwalior has been found dead in China under mysterious circumstances.
Prabal Kushwaha’s body was allegedly found hanging a week ago. While Chinese officials say it is a case of suicide, his family claimed foul play and suspected the involvement of a Chinese woman and her Indian companion in the death. His parents alleged that there was a financial dispute between Prabal and the owner of the institute where he taught yoga.
Prabal last communicated with his family via video call on December 20.After that, his phone became “unreachable”. His parents tried to contact his female acquaintances in China, who they knew as ‘Su-Chin and Miss Rosie’, but there was no response. And then came the news that he was dead.
Prabal met the Chinese woman and an Indian named Rosie while pursuing a diploma in yoga course in Bengaluru. When he was offered a job at a yoga centre in Beijing, he embraced the opportunity and left for China in February last year.
Prabal’s kin have sought assistance from Indian Embassy to expedite the repatriation of his body but were told that the process may take 40-45 days. His father Surendra Kushwaha has reached out to civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, appealing for his intervention to help bring Prabal’s body to India so that the family can get closure and seek justice.
