NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief secretaries in the national capital during a three-day conference starting December 28 to discuss key issues such as land, electricity, drinking water, health and schooling with a focus on ease of living. This is the third such conference, the first was held in June last year in Dharamshala and the second in Delhi in January.
Putting the principle of cooperative federalism in action, the national conference of chief secretaries is organised to encourage participative governance and partnership between the Centre and the state governments.

The three-day conference will witness participation of more than 200 people comprising representatives of the central government and chief secretaries and other senior officials. It will lay the ground for collaborative action for achieving better quality of life by strengthening the delivery mechanisms of government interventions.

With special emphasis on easy access to welfare schemes and quality in service delivery, five sub-themes that will be discussed are land and property, electricity, drinking water, health, and schooling. Special sessions will be held on cyber security, aspirational block and district programme, rationalisation of schemes and new age technologies.
Besides these, focused deliberations will be held on drug de-addiction and rehabilitation; Amrit Sarovar; tourism promotion, branding and role of states; PM Vishwakarma Yojana and PM SVANidhi. Best practices from states/ UTs under each of the themes will be presented at the conference so that states can replicate the success achieved in one state or manoeuvre as per their own requirements, according to the official statement.
