Lee Sun-kyun’s close friends and family continue to mourn his untimely demise. As a mark of respect for their co-star, the team of ‘Payback: Money and Power’ has decided to skip the upcoming SBS Drama Awards.
Spot TV quoted SBS as stating that it will be difficult for the actors of the drama to attend the awards ceremony due to the sudden news. Lee Sun-kyun essayed the lead in this drama, which has secured the highest viewership rating of 11.4 percent, as reported by Nielsen Korea. It achieved the third spot in the highest viewed SBS dramas, after Taxi Driver Season 2 and Dr. Romantic Season 3. Kang Yoo Seok and Park Hoon were reportedly set to appear at the awards ceremony but had decided not to, as a mark of respect for Lee Sun-kyun.
According to Koreaboo, those celebrities who will attend the event have decided to express condolences and mourn the demise of Lee Sun-kyun by wearing black at the SBS Drama Awards. The ceremony is scheduled for 8:40pm KST, on Friday, December 29.
Lee Sun-kyun’s funeral ceremony will also take place on December 29, his coffin will reportedly be transported to his family burial grounds. Requesting privacy, the late actor’s agency, HODU&U Entertainment stated, “We would like to thank all those who are mourning the final parting moments of the late actor Lee Sun Gyun. All procedures from here on, including the funeral procession and burial, will be held privately, so we ask that you send your condolences in your thoughts and prayers only. There have been uninvited guests claiming to be YouTubers showing up at the wake both during the day and in the night, causing unwanted commotion to the point that it has become cruel and unbearable. Once again, we earnestly ask for your cooperation, so that the family of the deceased, his colleagues, and acquaintances may mourn as much as they need to in peace.”
