Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan‘ has been blowing up at the box office ever since the film released on September 7. Apart from SRK’s stellar performance, the film’s dialogues have been garnering a lot of love from the audience.
In an interview with Indian Express, dialogue writer Sumit Arora opened up on penning the film’s most popular dialogues from the SRK starrer. Arora revealed that the line, ‘Bete ko haath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar‘ is so simple, but will probably stay with him throughout his career.
Arora shared that the idea was to stay true to the world of the film and write dialogues accordingly, not try to be smart and show off. According to him, if the lines are working, it is because they are well within the context of ‘Jawan’.
Arora further added that the metro sequence was the first scene he wrote. He started to feel that he his enjoying it, that he could do it well. Azad is putting on a persona in that sequence, and it is completely unhinged. Because it’s a persona, you can go anywhere with it but there still needs to be a character continuation.
While speaking about ‘voting monologue’, Arora stated that it was the whole finger juxtaposition, with raising questions and voting. He said when he cracked that ‘ungli’ concept, it was like he can do the monologue, we need to express what Azad has been doing so far and what he wants to say to the people. He finally cracked the ungli idea, and felt it was a good connection that you raise finger to ask question and also to vote. It just fell into place very seamlessly.
Directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, the movie features Shah Rukh in the role of Vikram Rathore and his son Azad. The movie highlights various social and political issues through the story.
Arora’s upcoming projects include Kabir Khan’s “Chandu Champion” featuring Kartik Aaryan, and Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK-directed Indian version of “Citadel”.
“Jawan”, a pan-India film, also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi as well as Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. It was released worldwide on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
