House conduct shows opposition frustration: PM Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the opposition’s strategy of disruptions would not deter the government from ensuring the passage of bills lined up for the session.
At a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party, he said, “In the coming days, no matter whether others are participating or not, we must participate in Parliament. Some of the bills which are to be taken up are of great importance. We should listen to the discussion on them. It would have been good if the opposition had participated in debates on them. But, perhaps, good deeds are not in their fortune.”
Addressing the gathering in the Parliament library hall, the Prime Minister said, “I am not sure whether we will meet again this year but I am hopeful that when we meet next year, the hall will be packed”, reflecting the optimism in the ranks that BJP will return to office in 2024 with higher numbers.
A combative PM, sources said, came down hard on the “few opposition leaders” who had “directly or indirectly supported” those responsible for the security breach. It was seen by many as a reference to Rahul Gandhi who had said that unemployment had led those behind the smoke scare to do what they did. Modi asked BJP MPs to “expose” these leaders while maintaining civility and exercising restraint.
On INDIA bloc leaders meeting in the national capital, the PM said some people were uniting with the intent to remove BJP. “However, on the other side, we are patriots working for the betterment of India and utilising our strength for the same,” he added.
The Prime Minister suggested that party leaders should reach out to first-time voters and tell them how the country was placed before 2014.Underlining that he had never missed the BJP parliamentary party meeting if he was in Delhi, Modi said he was happy that even today, the BJP karyakarta was alive in him. He also recalled his participation in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in the last two days in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi and said as a parliamentarian, it was a learning and enriching experience.
