LUCKNOW: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all geared up to put up a grand show of strength in Ayodhya when PM Narendra Modi reaches the temple town to inaugurate the Maryada Purushottam Sri Ram airport project and railway station on December 30 — in what is being projected as a high-pitch precursor to the much-awaited consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22, 2024.
Highly placed sources in the BJP said that the saffron outfit has charted out plans to ferry lakhs of party supporters to Ayodhya from at least half dozen districts around Ayodhya, including Sultanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Amethi, Barabanki, Gonda and Basti. Besides, the thousands of organizational workers are expected to reach the city to witness PM Modi’s 15-km road show that will pass through NH-27, Dharam Path, Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, Ram Path, Tedhi Bazaar, Mohabra intersection to Ayodhya railway station. The PM is also scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation of other developmental projects in the holy city on the day.
The entire mobilization, sources said, is being done under the keen and direct watch of BJP’s top brass including CM Yogi Adityanath, UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary and state general secretary (organization) Dharampal Singh. UP’s both deputy CMs – Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and a host of senior UP ministers too have been pressed into the job to make the event a grand success — a move that resonates profoundly with saffron pantheon’s tried and tested Hindutva card ahead of the high stakes Lok Sabha elections due next year.
Experts said that Modi’s presence in Ayodhya on December 30 and then on January 22 was poised to set BJP’s electoral agenda to take on an increasingly assertive opposition, primarily the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, the two key constituents of opposition bloc INDIA. “A loud message from Ayodhya could potentially help the BJP in countering the caste card of the opposition,” said a political analyst.
BJP’s Awadh region president Kamlesh Misha told TOI that the party has already started mobilizing its cadres at the mandal and booth levels in various districts. “Party workers and supporters will thus surely reach Ayodhya in large numbers,” he said. “People’s inclination towards Sanatan and ‘Dharma’ is very much apparent. We are just making proper arrangements for the people to reach Ayodhya without any problem,” he said.
Mishra said that a host of party MPs, MLAs from Ayodhya and nearby districts, too, have been entrusted with the task of ensuring a large gathering of party supporters. He said that the party has also started a week-long cleanliness drive titled, “Swachh Ayodhya Dham, Jai Sri Ram” to see that various parts of the city remain clean.
