Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, BJP plans to take 20 lakh people from Bihar to Ayodhya for Ram Lalla darshan – Times of India

PATNA: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has planned to take around 20 lakh people from Bihar to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to have a “darshan” of Ram Lalla after inauguration of the temple. The inauguration ceremony of the Ram temple is slated to take place on January 22 next year for which massive preparations are underway, media reports have said.
BJP’s Bihar state general secretary-cum-state convener of “Ramlalla Darshan Abhiyan”, Jagannath Thakur informed they were arranging at least 100 trains to transport devotees settled in faraway places while adequate number of buses are being arranged to carry people from the districts bordering UP, such as Siwan, Kaimur and Buxur. The people will also be provided with free food and accommodation during their stay in the temple town.
“Our initial target is to take at least 20 lakh people to Ayodhya in between January and March, but their number can also increase. We will arrange for at least 100 trains in addition to a large number of buses to carry them,” Ramlalla Darshan Abhiyan’s state convener Thakur told the TOI on Thursday. The journey will begin from January 25 and will continue till March 25.
“You know the sentiments of the Ram bhakts. Everyone wants to visit there (Ayodhya)…

sankhya adhik hai

(the number of people willing to visit there is very large),” Thakur said, adding they were trying to cope with the situation. He informed that a good number of voluntary organisations have offered to provide food and accommodation to the visiting people free of cost and that the visitors won’t face any difficulties in having a “darshan” of Ram Lalla.
Apart from them, more than a dozen senior party leaders would be camping in the temple town to coordinate with the crowds of devotees. Thakur said they are making every effort to ensure the people don’t face any problems in reaching Ayodhya and offering prayers to the deity.
Although the BJP described it as an attempt to respect the sentiments of Ram bhakts, political analysts attach much importance to the move saying the very idea could leave a wide impact on the LS polls. “Temple darshan idea is going to leave a substantial impact on the LS polls and could politically benefit the BJP,” political analyst Prof Nawal Kishore Choudhary said on Thursday, hinting at polarisation along the religious lines, which is “increasing every day”.
“History also proves that the Ram temple issue has hugely benefited the BJP, bringing its tally from 2 in Lok Sabha to over 200 and then catapulting it to power,” Choudhary explained, adding the “BJP is investing political, social and financial capital to achieve its goal.” Stating that 80 per cent of the state’s population is practicing Hindus, he said although they don’t go to temples, they are Hindus.
The RJD claimed the people of the state are “secular” by nature and hence the BJP’s move to make electoral gains by carrying people to Ayodhya won’t succeed anymore. “The people of Bihar are secular. Well, they are ‘sanatan’ followers but have always opposed religious frenzy,” state RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said adding,

“Ram sabke hain

(Ram belongs to everyone).”
In the last 2019 LS elections, the NDA had made a clean sweep in Bihar, bagging 39 out of the state’s total 40 LS seats but the situation at that time was entirely different. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) was a part of the NDA but now Nitish heads the ruling Grand Alliance.
